This is one of the longest serving organizations that deals with vulnerable Children in Uganda. Watoto has set up such big facilities of children homes in what they have called Villages. Each village has about 300 houses that are harboring these children together with their care takers (Mothers). The Villages are fully fledged with Schools where these kids go for studies and very well organized systems of management and control.
SESACO Ltd is among the pre-qualified suppliers of the millet porridge that is being utilized by these homes. We supply about 4 tonnes each month.
With that introduction we are pleased to have held the school feeding program with a different approach this time. About 300 mothers were gathered together, each with his/her charcoal stove and cooking gudgets we provide free spices and ingredients. To these mothers whom we put into groups of 6 to 10 people. We take them through the process of preparation as they are practically doing it and then we taste what has been prepared. The exercise that begins in the morning becomes very interesting as time goes on.
The moms were trained on how they can make their own soymilk with the little soybeans that they may have. From ½ kilogram of Soy, we extracted out 3 liters of soymilk and most the mothers and kids had a taste of this milk.
These villages have made good recommendation of the TSP to be supplied to them beginning next year in January.
